FILM FOUR INTERNATIONAL
To conceive and implement a memorable event at which Channel 4 could launch its new 'Film Four International' logo.
The Cannes Film Festival was considered the most appropriate event at which to launch the new logo for Channel 4's Film Four International to the global film industry and media. The launch was held in the gardens of an unusual Lebanese restaurant until then largely undiscovered by the visitors to the film festival and not 'on the list' of most commonly used venues. The FFI logo itself was used as the theme; displayed in the food, decoration and layout, on the silver helium balloons and on an exclusive 'FFIlofax', produced for all guests at the launch. The event was hosted by then CEO, Michael Grade who flew into Cannes especially for the event.
The international trade press in Cannes for the event all covered the launch of the new logo and UK national press ran diary stories. The event at which the new FFI logo was launched was remembered favourably as was the 'FFIlofax', which was hailed as the most useful promotional item of the year and much in demand.
